Source ladder
- Tier 1 — official board BCCI, ICC, AIFF, Pro Kabaddi, ATP. Primary release for every squad announcement, schedule change and result.
- Tier 2 — operator feed Sportradar calibration against the official register. Live scores and team sheets.
- Tier 3 — sports press Cricbuzz, ESPNcricinfo, official league media. Used for context, not for primary verification.
- Tier 4 — social media Used only when corroborated by Tier 1 / Tier 2 within 60 minutes.
Compliance & responsible play
The FanCode app is operated by Fantasy Sports India Pvt Ltd (a Dream Sports group company), under the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025 (PROG Act) and the MeitY Online Gaming rules, 2023. Six states currently notify prohibition — Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Odisha, Sikkim, Telangana, Nagaland. Meghalaya operates a permitted list under the PROG Act framework.
Real-money gaming carries financial risk. The desk does not market to minors. The FanCode app carries the 18+ gate at sign-up; the desk does not link to any wallet feature, deposit button or paid-entry button outside the operator's app flow.
If you or someone you know is experiencing problems related to gaming, the All India Gaming Council's helpline is 1800-XXX-XXXX (regional). Players in restricted states cannot be onboarded by any operator; if you are in a restricted state and reading this desk, the editorial coverage still applies but the fantasy contest register is not available to you.
Editorial corrections protocol
- Verification stage: every published claim is sourced against an external database within 30 minutes of writing.
- Hold stage: any claim that cannot be verified within 30 minutes is held until verification lands.
- Correction stage: when a published claim is later found incorrect, we publish the fix the same day, with the editor's name and the timestamp.
- Archive stage: corrections remain visible on the corrections column indefinitely.

A short note on the desk's limits
Every editorial surface has limits. The FanCode newsroom's limits are these: (1) the desk does not have access to user wallets, deposits, withdrawals or paid-entry records; (2) the desk does not see the operator's internal KYC pipeline; (3) the desk does not have a sponsorship relationship with the operator beyond the standard first-party install route. The desk is editorial, not a customer success arm.
What the desk publishes
Editorial coverage: match centre, predictions, fantasy selection guides, news, player dossier, team ledger. The desk publishes what can be verified against external sources — BCCI, ICC, AIFF, Pro Kabaddi, Sportradar, the operator's own release. Where the source is the operator, we say so. Where the source is third-party, we say so. Where the source is "the desk's read of the play", we label that explicitly as analysis rather than reporting.
A reading note — accountability & corrections
The desk maintains editorial accountability on a per-article basis. Every published headline carries the editor's name; every corrections log entry carries the editor's name. If we get it wrong, the fix carries the editor's name — not a generic "the desk" attribution.
The desk's beat structure — cricket, multi-sport, fantasy — has a dedicated anchor on each. The anchors are working sports journalists and freelancers; we publish their hours on the desk so readers know when to expect a response.
A reading note on why the desk was built
The FanCode newsroom was built on three motivations: (1) India needs a sports editorial surface that takes the multi-sport reality seriously — cricket alone is half the story, but football, kabaddi and tennis carry equal weight in the editor's reading; (2) editorial accountability has slipped in the fantasy sports coverage market, and the desk is built around the principle that every published headline carries the editor's name; (3) readers deserve a fair reading of the operator's compliance posture without marketing-claim inflation.
