App permissions
The app requests three permissions on first install — Internet (for live scores), Storage (for APK-side caching), and Location (for state-eligibility checking at sign-up). The app does not request camera or contacts; the in-app photo / video upload feature is opt-in.
First launch — what to expect
- Sign-up Mobile number → OTP → name → email.
- KYC PAN upload + bank account or UPI. The desk does not see this data; it sits inside the operator's flow.
- State check Your IP-derived state is checked against the operator's prohibition list. Restricted states cannot be onboarded.
- Contest register Open the sport catalog, build a squad, lock the captaincy and enter the contest.
App — reader questions
Does the app work on older Android?
Android 7.0+ is supported. The recommended OS is Android 12+ for the smoothest live-score experience.
Is the APK verified?
Yes. The build is signed by the operator's certificate. We do not host mirrors; the APK page links directly to the operator's signed build.
Where is my data stored?
Inside the operator's secured infra under MeitY guidelines. The editorial desk has no access.
Build integrity — what makes the install trustworthy
The operator signs every build with a deterministic certificate. The certificate hash is published with every release. A user can verify the certificate hash locally before install — the desk publishes the recipe on the APK page. If the certificate hash matches, you have the official build. If not, you have a tampered build and should not proceed.
What the operator signs
The Android build is signed with a v2 / v3 signature scheme. The iOS build uses Apple's app signing chain. Both chains attest to the build identity. The signature is part of the build artifact itself — not a separate layer that can be removed or replaced by a third party without breaking the install.
A reading note on the app's offline behaviour
The app's live-score pipeline requires network access. The squad builder, however, can be used offline: builds are queued for sync when network returns. The wallet and KYC flows require network access for verification; offline mode supports read-only wallet inspection.
The desk reads this as good engineering — offline-first design for the squad builder means fans can plan their picks on the move without losing them if the network drops mid-fixture. The operator's app team has made the squad builder offline-tolerant since v5.x.
For users with strict device security (e.g. enterprise devices with restricted Play Store access), the desk recommends the direct APK path. The build identity is identical to the Play Store path; the only difference is the distribution channel.
For users on iPad or Android tablets, the layout adjusts to the tablet dimensions but the recommended install remains a mobile device for the smoothest live-score experience. The squad builder on iPad works in landscape orientation.
