The desk's reading workflow is: (1) start with the captain pick table for the format you are playing, (2) cross-check the form bars against the venue history, (3) lock the role balance, (4) choose the differential slot from the ownership band, (5) read the boom-to-bust ratio to decide if a player is ceiling-tier (above 15%) or solid-floor (below 10%). The dossier is open throughout the contest window.
Boom % = (% of fixtures where the player exceeded their role ceiling by 50%) over the last 18 months. A 15% boom means roughly 1 in 7 fixtures becomes a ceiling event.
We sample the FanCode contest register at every contest lock and publish the rolling 24-hour ownership distribution. Differential picks are sub-10%; consensus captains are above 25%.
Yes — the India A dossier carries emerging players. Several first-class and List A records sit at the desk; we publish them once a player crosses the senior selection threshold.
Yes — within 15 minutes of a verified injury report. The dossier turns the affected player's form bars amber and removes them from the differential pool until verified fit.
The dossier's most important column is boom %, not the last-five average. Boom % tells you how often the player exceeds their role ceiling by 50% across the last 18 months. A 15% boom means roughly 1 in 7 fixtures becomes a ceiling event. A 22% boom is ceiling-tier. A 9% boom is solid-floor. Boom % is the single number that distinguishes a captain pick from a differential slot; it's also the number most prone to being confused with average.
Players with ceiling-tier boom (above 15%) carry an asymmetric payout shape: low base, high upside, low variance. They are the differentials. Players with solid-floor boom (below 8%) carry a symmetric payout shape: high base, low upside, low variance. They are the consensus captains. Players in the mid-band carry an asymmetric-leaning payout: mid base, mid upside, mid variance. They are the role-balance picks.
Fantasy contests reward multiplier. A captain with 30% ownership and a 15% boom has a smaller multiplier reward than a captain with 8% ownership and a 15% boom, because the wider pool of opponents will already have the consensus captain. Differential picks only compound on a small pool. This is why the captain with high ceiling + sub-10% ownership is the highest-multiplier call you can make — it costs you a non-event in the consensus case but pays out massively when the boom lands.
Form bars are color-coded. Green bars are above the role-median points threshold for the last five fixtures (typically +50% above median for ceiling-tier players). Flat bars are at median. Amber bars are below median (typically -20% or more). Five greens is ceiling-tier form for that player; 4 greens + 1 flat is mid-band form. Three ambers or worse is below-floor form and the player should drop from the squad.
Form bars reset after every fixture. The dossier re-cuts daily at 06:00 IST. Where a player skips a fixture (rest, injury), the bar carries forward as the previous frame; the dossier flags skipped fixtures on the player card.
